Vital Voices Global Partnership is thrilled to announce that our Global Headquarters for Women’s Leadership has achieved LEED Silver certification by the U.S. Green Building Council and the WELL Health-Safety Rating through the International WELL Building Institute for the sustainable design of our building. Located in the heart of Washington, DC’s historic 16th Street corridor near The White House, Vital Voices opened its new headquarters in May of 2022 to serve as an embassy for all women.
LEED, or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, is the leading rating system for buildings, homes, and communities designed for improved environmental and human health performance. Achieving LEED Silver certification underscores Vital Voices’ commitment to sustainability and creating a healthy environment for staff, partners and visitors.
To attain LEED certification, our headquarters underwent a rigorous process, incorporating green strategies to enhance efficiency and promote healthy indoor environments. This recognition reflects our dedication to sustainable practices in design, construction, and operation.
In addition to LEED Silver certification, we are proud to have earned the WELL Health-Safety Rating, an evidence-based, third-party verified rating focused on operational policies, maintenance protocols, stakeholder engagement, and emergency plans. This rating ensures that our space meets the highest standards for health and safety, particularly crucial in the post-COVID-19 environment.
Vital Voices’ LEED Silver certification and WELL Health-Safety Rating demonstrate our commitment to environmental responsibility and the well-being of both our local and global communities.
