We had the privilege of launching the #AVitalVoice campaign on International Women’s Day, March 8, backstage at our 16th Annual Global Leadership Awards with Secretary Clinton. Our Facebook Live kick off video has raked in over 700k views (and counting)! Over the course of a year, the campaign will tell the story of 100 courageous Vital Voices Network women across the globe. Amplifiers such as Hamilton star Jasmine Cephas Jones and NBC anchor Ronan Farrow have helped us share their stories! Keep up with the campaign at avitalvoice.org.
WOMEN IN THE WORLD SUMMIT
Vital Voices board member, Tina Brown, hosted the eighth annual Women in the World Summit on Wednesday, April 5th through Friday April 7th! In association with the New York Times, Women in the World served as an incredible celebration of women across the globe featuring headline speakers such as Secretary Hillary Rodham Clinton and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. GLOBAL MENTORING WALK 2017
Last month over 13,000 people joined together around the world to celebrate International Women’s Day through the Vital Voices Global Mentoring Walks. Each year this initiative pairs established and emerging women leaders – all guided by the shared belief that power expands the moment its shared – to mentor, connect and walk together in their communities. Through the efforts of the walks’ Flagbearers (more than 100 women in our Global Leadership Network who lead and coordinate the walks), thousands of women and girls came together across cultures, generations, religions and identities to bring this message to life. The HERlead Ambassador Forum took place last month in Washington, DC, and we’re gearing up for a new class of Fellows this June.
