Seyi Akiwowo is an author, digital governance leader and founder of Glitch, a UK-based nonprofit working to end online abuse. At 23, she became the youngest Black woman elected Councillor in East London. After experiencing severe coordinated online abuse following a speech at the European Parliament, she recognised that existing governance systems were not designed to protect people from digital harm, particularly Black women who face disproportionate abuse online.

In response, Seyi founded Glitch, which produces pioneering research on misogynoir and advocates for stronger accountability from governments and technology companies. In 2022, she published How to Stay Safe Online, a practical toolkit helping individuals navigate digital spaces with resilience while advocating for their rights.

Today Seyi works with governments, companies and institutions to design duty-of-care frameworks and governance systems that embed safety, accountability and digital justice into the architecture of digital spaces.
