Alida Adelina Arana Vicente is an activist, human rights defender, and indigenous authority figure in Palín, Escuintla, Guatemala with the Poqomam Maya Nation. She has a PhD in Constitutional Law from the University of San Carlos De Guatemala (USAC) and a Masters in Human Rights from the University Carlos III of Madrid, Spain. Currently, she is a lawyer in cases of violence against women and criminalization of indigenous leaders. As an indigenous authority figure, she was at the forefront of the 2023 nationwide effort to successfully support the democratic transition of power in Guatemala.
