Beginning in 2011 and ending in 2021, the HERlead Fellowship trained, mentored and inspired over 370 high school girls from across the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico to become the next generation of women leaders. Through the training and mentoring received in the HERlead Fellowship, young women were empowered and equipped with the leadership skills they needed to effect global progress, invest in their communities and begin their individual leadership journeys.
HERlead also provided grant funding for more than 284 social impact projects. This groundbreaking initiative was a collaboration between Vital Voices Global Partnership and ascena retail group inc., including its Ann Taylor and LOFT brands. Together, these organizations provided HERlead Fellows with mentorship, grants and other resources so they could learn through action and each realize their distinct visions for making a positive difference in the world.
Though the program formally ended in 2021, Vital Voices continues to encourage and foster the relationships developed within the entire HERlead community to date, and all former HERlead Fellows were invited to create an account on Vital Voices’ Platform and join the Rising Voices community of young leaders. We will provide support, networking opportunities, and access to resources via this platform and beyond.
