I am a Balfour Scholar and Tisch Scholar at Tufts University studying environmental engineering with a focus on race and justice. When I became a fellow, I was raising awareness of and alleviating food insecurity in my town by creating a community garden. Today, I use my studies and passion to address the intersection between environmental injustice and racial injustice, environmental racism. I work to mitigate disparities in health, access to resources, and opportunities minority communities face due to oppression. As an ambassador of The Jane Goodall Institute on the Roots & Shoots National Youth Leadership Council for six years, I have collaborated on and directed global and local environmental initiatives. At Tufts, outside of my participation in dance groups and tour guiding, I am redesigning the identity programming of Tufts pre-orientation; I hope to empower students with the tools to better navigate discussions on identity and social injustice.
