Special Projects Director, MAIA Organization
Martha Lidia Oxi Chuy is a member of the MAIA Leadership Team, the only organization in Guatemala that is designed and led by indigenous women that serves Maya communities. As Director of Special Projects, she designs and implements culturally-attuned, high-impact projects focusing on the education and empowerment of girls.
Her passions are education, sustainability and gender equality. In 2020, in response to COVID-19, she led the design and implementation of family organic gardens. This project helped propel MAIA as the National 2020 winner of Energy Globe Award. She is the MAIA team-lead of the Amplify her Voice project, winner of the SOLVEMIT 2020 Global Challenges. She has represented MAIA in conversations with Zayed Sustainability Prize, Rotary, USAC, XIV Women’s Leadership and the Honnold Foundation.
