“I’m so excited that leadership has a new home.” — Amanda Gorman

Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Malala Yousafzai and the USA’s first National Youth Poet Laureate Amanda Gorman are two members of the Vital Voices network who have used their voices at the highest levels of politics and society to empower others to create positive change in the world.

In the videos above and below, the two trailblazers celebrate the grand opening of the new Vital Voices Global Headquarters for Women’s Leadership, the world’s first global embassy for women.

Within the halls of this new monument to women’s leadership a room where knowledge is to be stored and shared is named after them:
The Malala Yousafzai and Amanda Gorman
Leadership Library.

The books on the shelves in the library are filled with reminders of the impact women leaders have made in the world, many were written by and about Vital Voices fellows and leaders connected to the nonprofit.

The Malala Yousafzai and Amanda Gorman Leadership Library will serve as a gathering place for women to connect, plan, and find ways to bridge ideological divides to create solutions. Those who have gathered in this room since the May 2022 grand opening include Sec. Hillary Clinton, Huma Abedin (Vital Voices board member and chief of staff to Hillary Clinton), Alyse Nelson (president & CEO of Vital Voices), and many more.
