In a historic vote, the United States Senate confirmed Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the United States Supreme Court with a 53-47 vote. Vice President Kamala Harris, the nation’s first woman, first Black person, and first Asian American to hold that office, presided over the vote.

As the first Black woman to join the nation’s highest court in its 233-year history, Judge Brown Jackson’s rise to the Supreme Court represents the best of our nation and exemplifies the importance of representation at every level. Judge Brown Jackson continues to shatter glass ceilings and inspire women and girls around the world.

All of us at Vital Voices are elated by her confirmation. We look forward to her career as a Supreme Court Justice, fighting for the rights and elevating the voices of women and girls across the nation.
