Celebrating Pride Month in Washington, DC

This June marks 53 years since the Stonewall Uprising, a revolutionary and empowering turning point for the gay rights movement in the United States. Pride Month is not only dedicated to honoring this pivotal moment in the history of LGBTQIA+ activism, but it is also a time for celebrating, connecting and raising awareness. While much progress has been made over the past five decades, significant challenges still remain around the world and serve as a reminder that we must continue to work for equality for all LGBTQIA+ individuals.

Here at Vital Voices Global Partnership, we are deeply proud of our diverse global network. We are dedicated to identifying, investing in and bringing visibility to women leaders of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and expressions. By coming together across borders, we can make a difference for LGBTQIA+ communities and beyond.

For those in our network located in Washington, DC, please join us on June 20th at Vital Voices Global Headquarters for a screening of the film “My name is Pauli Murray” followed by a moderated panel discussion. You can find more details here.

Interested in participating in Pride Month in the greater Washington, DC area? You can find more information about the festival, parade and other pride festivities taking place this coming weekend and for the rest of June here.
