Vital Voices condemns, in the strongest terms, the deadly suicide bombing in Kabul which targeted Shia Hazara girls at an education center, reportedly leaving 23 dead. We express our deep condolences and solidarity with the people of Kabul and the families who lost children today.

‘’We are deeply concerned that schools, particularly girls’ schools, are being deliberately attacked, reversing all the progress made for women and girls from the last two decades,’’ said Vital Voices Senior Program Coordinator for Afghanistan, Spouzhmai Akberzai.

“The war is never over for the women and girls in my country. Many of the girls in today’s attack were also targeted in a similar assault in 2018, and live under constant threat for the simple act of exercising their right to an education.”
