At Vital Voices, amplifying the voices of women leaders comes first every day. But on this International Women’s Day – a day to recognize the power of women changemakers, activists, and leaders around the world – we renew our commitment to fight for a more gender-equal world where women leaders are not only accepted but expected.
As we navigate the world’s toughest challenges, women’s leadership has never been more vital – especially as we stand, today and every day, with the brave women fighting for their rights amid ongoing humanitarian crises in Ukraine and Afghanistan. Vital Voices is offering ongoing support to Ukrainian women leaders and has evacuated 1,124 at-risk women leaders and family members from Afghanistan. We are humbled by their courage and, on this International Women’s Day, we remain determined to amplify the voices of the women leaders advocating for freedom and fighting to protect democracy.
We are excited to continue the legacy of these and all women leaders with the opening of the Vital Voices Global Headquarters for Women’s Leadership in 58 short days. The VVHQ will be a first-of-its-kind monument celebrating women’s empowerment and inspiring women’s leadership. For women in our Vital Voices global network, it will be a place to collaborate, gather, and ignite social change to transform the world.
