As the founder of GISR, a social enterprise established in 2014 that specializes in conducting public opinion research, Shaymaa has made it one of the most reputable small companies in the field in Egypt working with international organizations like the International Labor Organization, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit, and CARE International. Due to its focus on leveraging the field of survey research in Egypt, GISR was awarded the Pioneers of Egypt Award in 2016.

 

Shaymaa has 15 years of experience in the field of research generally and survey research specifically. Before founding GISR, she served as Deputy Manager of the Public Opinion Poll Center of the Egyptian Cabinet. She prepared economic studies and reports at the Information and Decision Support Center of the Cabinet, supervised over 400 opinion polls and surveys, participated in translating the book Managing Think Tanks: Practical Guidance for Maturing Organizations, and published several articles on websites including SasaPost, ElShrouk, and Onsurveys.

Shaymaa graduated from Faculty of Economics and Political Science, English Section, and has a master’ s degree in Euro-Mediterranean studies. She has two certificates from Cambridge University in human resource planning and business communication. As a certified Project Management Professional (PMP), she teaches project management to those seeking to get PMP certificates and offers short courses on project management and survey research methodologies. She is one of the founders of Waseela for Training and Development, an Egyptian NGO concerned with youth development.
