Farhana has worked in the financial sector in Bangladesh for 16 years, developing and utilizing her expertise in project financing and private equity investments at major financial institutions and international Private Equity Funds throughout the country. During her seven years at a Private Equity Fund, she led due diligence processes for investment and prepared portfolio companies for exit through initial public offering and strategic sale by monitoring financial performances, annual business plans, management build-up strategy, and corporate, social, and environmental compliances.

 

In 2014, Farhana joined her family business, Unimech Limited, a trading company which has expanded into manufacturing. She and her family established Unimech Food Factory and have spent the last two years setting up the factory, putting together a team, building sales-distribution networks, and launching their premium range of cookies, Rivoli, in the local market. Since January 2017, she’ s had the added responsibility of Managing Director of Unimech Limited, overseeing all activities of the company dealings in the sale and service of Aircraft Ground Support and cargo handling equipment. This involves liaising with principals, participating in international and local tenders, and ensuring proper funding.

Farhana was born and raised in Dhaka, Bangladesh, is the eldest of three daughters, and is the mother of two children. She has a bachelor’ s degree in economics from Lady Shri Ram College, Delhi University and a master’ s degree in business administration from the Institute of Business Administration of Dhaka University.
