As the Secretary of Public Ethics, Transparency and Anti-Corruption in the Anti-Corruption Office of Argentina, Laura Alonso led the design and delivery of anti-corruption programs within the government, as well the investigation and prosecution of cases of political corruption. She was previously a National Representative of Argentina, elected by the people of the City of Buenos Aires in 2009. Before politics, Laura was a prominent activist and served as Executive Director of Poder Ciudadano, the Argentine chapter of Transparency International. A consultant at several international organizations, Laura also trained civil society activists in Latin America and South-East Asia.

In 2008, Laura became an Eisenhower Fellow and was honored by Vital Voices Global Partnership as an outstanding global woman leader. In 2012, Laura was selected as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum and a fellow of the Draper Hills Democracy and Development Program at Stanford University. In 2020, she was Reagan-Fascell Fellow at the National Endowment for Democracy and she is a 2021 Yale World Fellow.

Laura is a member of the Vital Voices Global Leadership Network and La Pietra Coalition. She is also co-founder and board member of Voces Vitales Argentina and a board member of the Bi-national Institute of Argentine-American Culture.
