Vilma Jimenez is the Operations Director of HomeWorks Trenton, an after-school residential program for high school girls in Trenton, NJ. Scholars live in the HomeWorks dorm from Sundays to Fridays and are transported to and from their schools. After school, scholars engage in activities focused on academics and identity-driven leadership, eat a family-style meal, and stay overnight. HomeWorks’ model decreases chronic absenteeism; improves scholars’ academic, social-emotional, and leadership skills; and celebrates the power of Black and Brown sisterhood.

Jimenez envisions a future where communities of women around the world break down educational and gender barriers to social justice. She completed her BA in Public and International Affairs at Princeton University. As a first-generation Guatemalan-American, Jimenez has focused her studies and career on pursuing inclusive, sustainable development.

“As a visionary leader, I am excited to continue learning and contributing to systemic change through equipping and inspiring other women to become leaders and change-makers.”
