Vera Lupu is the Founder of the NGO Women for the Contemporary Society, as well as a lawyer who has worked on more than 60 trials and has achieved many significant jury verdicts and settlements. This experience has taught her that justice in cases of trafficking in persons is hard-won. Her caseload ranges from complex disputes with law enforcement bodies of how to identify and repatriate Moldovan women trafficking victims from dangerous locations and distant destination countries, to courtroom trials against traffickers who have recruited, transported and exploited women trafficking victims.

Her successes have caught the attention of various international organizations and non-governmental organizations, and this recognition and support has been instrumental in allowing Ms. Lupu to continue and expand her efforts to prevent human trafficking and assist trafficking victims and survivors. Ms. Lupu has more than 15 years of experience as trainer on combating human trafficking, her expertise on the topic earning her appreciation at both the national and international level, and particularly among law enforcement bodies.
