About Theresa

Theresa is the Director of Virtues Child Care and Education Centre in Papua New Guinea, a facility that provides childhood care and education services to children from newborns to seven years of age. The center prides itself on its holistic approach to nurturing the character of children in their most formative years. Virtues Child Care works to fill a need in the Papua New Guinea system, where formal children’s education does not start until they are age 8, leaving younger children in the home under the care of nonworking parents, babysitters, or other family members. Since there is a shortage of qualified childcare centers in Papua New Guinea, Virtues Child Day Care has become a center in high demand because of its dedication to providing a strong foundation for the physical, mental, emotional, and social development of children. In addition to fostering the next generation of leaders and change makers, Theresa is a member of the Papua New Guinea Women Entrepreneurs (PNGWEC), where she has received valuable resources and training. She is also a member of the Papua New Guinea Women in Business Resource Center (PNGWRC). Theresa received a diploma in Business Management at the Yeronga Institute of TAFE, in Brisbane, Australia and holds a Bachelors in Business Management.

What Theresa hopes to gain from the VV GROW Fellowship:

Theresa would like to improve her financial management skills and hopes to learn from the experiences of fellow women around the world who are managing early childhood care services. She is specifically interested in gaining a better understanding of information management and the differing regulations in which childhood care services operate in other countries. Theresa hopes to one day take her child care center internationally, in an effort to provide education to the more rural areas of the world.

Theresa can share the experiences she has had and the strategies she employs in her business with other fellows working in childhood development or managing their own businesses.
