Founder, Mama Soul, LLC
Tara Charne is the founder of Mama Soul, a company that educates and advocates for women to take care of their mental and physical health. Mama Soul raises awareness for U.N. Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3 “Good Health and Well-Being,” SDG 5 “Gender Equality” and SDG 16 “Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions.” They are also currently under review for B Corp certification. They have been able to sustain their business through the COVID-19 pandemic and a pivot from prenatal and postpartum to include all women’s mental and physical health. After suffering from postpartum depression and then not being able to find the right support for a friend who died in childbirth after her doctor did not listen to her, it became Tara’s mission in life to help women be heard by the medical establishment that lets them down. Tara received her 500-hour yoga teacher training degree while in the pandemic lockdown as she homeschooled her 4-year-old. She has been accepted into women-led accelerators including Get Shit Done and Dream Ventures, and she finally has an official women-owned business. Her son Laszlo gives her the strength to go on when the days as a woman founder seem unbearable.
What Tara can offer other fellows:
Tara has learned from other accelerator programs the true meaning of supporting women in their dreams. She can offer other fellows listening and feedback on pitches, decks, etc., and be a sounding board to vent and offer shared resources for funding opportunities.
