May is planning to launch Misa, a micro-savings application that promotes a proactive money-saving system for low-income earners in South Africa’s informal economy. Encouraging a savings lifestyle amongst low-income earners on its own is not truly effective due to financial limitations. Therefore, her organization has taken on the task of researching and developing mechanisms that will incentivize saving by providing access to quality healthcare.

May holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of the Witwatersrand and an Advanced Diploma in Accounting Science from the University of South Africa. Her entrepreneurial journey started with an office waste paper collection service which gave her a glimpse into the informal side of the waste industry, inspiring her to create something that incorporates her financial knowledge to make an impact.
