Deane’s current initiative with SIWOK.org focuses on establishing vegetable gardens at schools for the Wichí indigenous communities. The mission is to empower students with sustainable agricultural skills, improve nutrition, and reduce child mortality through hands-on education and community involvement.

Deane also founded the Kelp Forest Foundation which looked to unlock the power of kelp (seaweed) to combat climate change and biodiversity loss. She has recently resigned from her position.

“As a visionary leader, I strive to create lasting, positive change through sustainable development and education in some of the poorest regions of South America.”
