Safaw Alhassan Ali

Alhassan Safaw Ali is a fashion designer, social entrepreneur and founder of Saphaw Fashion Empire, a bespoke fashion brand specializing in bridal and custom-made garments. She leads creative direction, production and the training of young women in sewing and upcycling skills. Saphaw Fashion Empire focuses on sustainable fashion by transforming textile waste into high-value garments through upcycling and circular design practices. The business promotes responsible consumption and production while offering couture fashion services in Ghana.

Through her work, she advances SDG 5 (Gender Equality), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) and SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production). She has trained over 100 young women in garment construction and upcycling, creating pathways for income and entrepreneurship.

Her work is driven by a commitment to transforming waste into value while empowering women through creative skills and economic opportunity. Alhassan is an undergraduate fashion design student whose practice focuses on sustainable fashion systems, upcycling and material storytelling.
