Focus Areas

Resty Mbwali is the Founder and Executive Director of the Women’s Environmental Forum Uganda (WEF-Uganda), a youth-led organization advancing environmental justice by empowering women and young people to lead climate action, sustainable livelihoods, and community transformation. Through feminist organizing, grassroots leadership, and climate justice education, WEF-Uganda creates safe spaces where adolescent girls and young women build the confidence, skills, and collective power to influence environmental governance and shape equitable, climate-resilient communities.

Since 2019, Resty has worked with grassroots communities across Uganda, organizing young people, supporting women environmental defenders, and strengthening community-led responses to climate change and environmental degradation. She has led initiatives that promote girls’ leadership, environmental rights, economic empowerment, and accountability, with a particular focus on marginalized communities where climate impacts disproportionately affect women and girls. Her leadership is rooted in the belief that those most affected by environmental injustice must be at the center of the decisions that shape their future.
