Rema Sivaram is the co-founder of Fairkonnect, a Fair Trade-certified social enterprise working in the space of Sustainable Textiles, Fashion, and zero-waste products. Fairkonnect’s production units are often women-empowerment projects, run under Fair Trade standards. The company brings in women who belong to economically-challenged backgrounds and provides both training and employment. Through their sustainable concept store, Fairkonnect leads by example to encourage the use of reusable products and the reduction of waste. Rema leads her team in conducting community workshops, talks, and awareness programs on how to adopt a sustainable and zero-waste lifestyle. Rema is a recipient of Earthwatch India’s fellowship and a Miller Center Alumna.
