About Reem

Reem is the Founder and Manager at English for Fun, a center where English language is learned using alternative methods such as drama, music, and games. Located in Ma`a lot-Tarshiha, Israel, English for Fun provides educational services such as afternoon English group classes (ages 5-15), one-on-one tutoring sessions, choir (singing and acting out in video clips), and drama club (drama sessions for teens). Reem lives in a small village with 5,000 people and wanted to address the fact that people from different villages couldn’t communicate with one another due to language, cultural and political-religious barriers. Seeing these barriers, she wanted to build bridges between Arab Palestinian students in Israel with the people from the Arab world, Egypt, Tunisia, and Morocco to improve communications and share the students’ stories among new generations. Thus, she established English for Fun from her home as she believed that speaking a common language like English is a means to grow career paths, advance academic achievement, gain personal growth and make your voice heard in the world. Through English for Fun, parents of 300 families from different villages in the upper Gaslilee realize how their kids enjoy being in the center and are heard, and later these kids grow to be expressive, self-aware and responsible young adults. Reem is a fellow of Leaders for Democracy Fellowship. She holds her dual Bachelor’s degrees in Political Science and English Literature.

What Reem hopes to gain from the VV GROW Fellowship:

Reem is looking forward to developing a strategic plan and tools to help her realize her goals and prepare for the obstacles and struggles women face in business. She would also like to collaborate and build potential partnerships with other fellows.

What Reem can offer other fellows:

Reem can provide sharing sessions and workshops for businesses who want to empower kids through English language learning or drama workshops. She can also share her experience and inspire others regarding how to put innovative ideas into practice. Her additional areas of expertise include Business Management, Training Individuals in Marketing, Producing Drama and Choir, and Client Maintenance.
