Nicole Quintana is the owner of Mahina products, a brand that offers hair care products handmade with natural local ingredients. Her business impacts SDG 5, “Gender Equality” by generating jobs, specifically offering opportunities to women, for decent and deserved work. Mahina’s network of suppliers is led by women, and their goal is for it to be a circular economy with suppliers led by professional women and mothers. Mahina addresses SDG 6, “Clean Water and Sanitation” as their raw materials do not generate waste that is harmful to water and the environment. Additionally, they have an initiative where they offer plant-able business cards where for each client that buys a business card, they take responsibility for giving back to nature. They support SDG 17, “Partnerships for the Goal” by forging a strategic alliance with sustainable businesses and participating in eco-friendly bazaars. Their mission is to offer alternative hair care products that provide healthy nutrients and minimize the use of toxic ingredients that negatively affect us and our environment. Nicole is an industrial engineer and holds certifications in making natural cosmetics in special hair care products. She is passionate about natural cosmetics because she has two children who are extremely allergic, putting her on a mission to create safe products for them and help other moms who are searching for quality products without toxic ingredients for their families. Nicole hopes with Mahina to help people in Panama and around the world that are searching to take care of their skin, body, hair, and soul using the blessings of nature.
