About Maryam:

Maryam is the Development Director at Premier International School, one of Abuja’s oldest (est. 1997) and most reputable schools. The school caters to children from ages 3 months to 21 years at a thriving campus that includes a creche, preschool, elementary school, secondary school, pre-university center, cafeteria and a special education center. What makes Premier International School different is their passion for teaching children not only academic skills but also life skills; they refer to this as their 3A’s – Academic, Athletics and the Arts. At Premier, a heavy focus is placed on leadership development and technological savviness. Every student who graduates from Premier receives a strong foundation in Academics, Athletics, Arts and has strong Leadership and Technology skills. Maryam is also the Founder and CEO of Maryam Garba Designs and the Curriculum Director at Abuja Global Shapers. She has experience in communications and strategic planning. Maryam received her Masters of Education from Harvard Graduate School of Education and her Bachelor of Arts from Stanford University.

What Maryam hopes to gain from the VV GROW Fellowship:

Maryam hopes to improve her business, marketing, and financial management skills. She also hopes to gain valuable time-management, negotiation and problem solving skills.

 

What Maryam can offer other fellows:

Maryam can bring her experience working in a developing country as well as her experience of working in a business she inherited.
