About Márcia

Márcia is the Director of New Wave School, a language school that provides English, Spanish, Arabic, and Portuguese classes for adults and young adults. The classes are offered in-person in both small groups and private lessons, and online. The school also provides English courses for kids and teenagers with a special methodology and specific textbooks for each age. The school uses textbooks and curricula from Cambridge and Oxford Universities in their English courses to ensure the best development of their students’ speaking skills. New Wave School has a partnership with Anhembi Morumbi University from S√£o Paulo city to offer postgraduate and undergraduate online courses. Students can choose from more than 40 undergraduate courses, and more than 60 online post-graduate courses. In an effort to give back to the community, New Wave School offers language class scholarships to high-performing students who can’t afford the tuition and runs food and clothing drives for underserved communities in the area. Márcia has worked as a teacher since 1988 and has been a businesswoman and a coordinator at New Wave School since 1993. She graduated from the Tourism College at Unioeste University and also attended University of S√£o Paulo where she specialized in Education. Márcia’s strengths are people management and negotiation skills.

What Márcia hopes to gain from the VV GROW Fellowship:

Márcia would like to learn more about developing an effective business plan for her business and creating goals in management, marketing and sales, and identifying digital tools. She is also eager to learn from others about how they run their companies in other countries, in order to think differently, inspire herself, make her business grow and help her community.

What Márcia can offer other fellows:

She would like to share with other women her story and experience of 27 years as a teacher, mother, coordinator and businesswoman.
