Focus Areas
Lydia Ariga is the Founder and Chairperson of Youth Can Thrive, a youth-for-youth organisation in Kenya addressing youth unemployment and limited opportunities by bringing young people together to create opportunities instead of waiting for them. Through a collaborative model, young people combine diverse skills to work on projects that generate income, build experience, strengthen skills, and improve livelihoods.
Ariga holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from Maasai Mara University. Through lived experience, she is working toward building a collaborative economic model within Youth Can Thrive to help young people pursue goals in an economy with limited opportunities. She previously interned as an Investigations Officer at the Competition Authority of Kenya, where she strengthened her analytical writing skills, which she now uses to write on youth issues.
“As a visionary leader, I strive to restore hope in young people and empower them to build stronger economies.”
