Luisa Castro Becerril serves as the director of programs and operations at Girl Up México, a youth-led movement that trains, inspires, and connects girls to be leaders and activists for gender equality. Girl Up Mexico supports more than 70 Clubs of youth leaders in 23 out of 32 Mexican states, equipping them to be changemakers advancing gender equality. Girl Up Mexico members advocate for sexual and reproductive rights, climate action, mental health, and STEAM participation.
Castro’s leadership journey began when she co-founded the first Girl Up campus club in Mexico, Girl Up Políticas UANL, during her studies in International Relations at the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León. As director of Girl Up México, Castro ensures the organization delivers impactful programs to its community members and strengthens the regional network of change makers. Additionally, Castro is a member of Auna México, a platform that promotes women’s leadership in politics to achieve greater well-being, justice, and environmental protection.
