Lesley Mntungwa is the Director of African Olive, an Engineering Company focused on electrical and civil engineering, as well as its related services and provides. They provide a range of services including testing and commissioning of new and refurbished primary and secondary plant high voltage electrical equipment, protection applications and design modifications of high voltage electrical equipment, stringing and cabling of high voltage electrical equipment, installations of high voltage equipment, building construction and civil engineering services. They can offer clients the ability to build a substation from start to end, which allows them to identify immediately and alert the client if anomalies are found to avoid project delays. The services African Olive provides begin at the design phase until the substation is put into service to carry load and provide electricity to communities. Lesley’s vision includes extending their services first into southern Africa before expanding across Africa and finally going global. While their competitors provide a limited range of services, African Olive has broadened their scope, this has given them an advantage which has helped them to remain in business during very difficult economic times. Lesley is also a Program Coordinator at a nonprofit organization, working on building entrepreneurship skills and competencies in her local community. Her areas of expertise include administration, human resources, strategic planning and management. She has completed a Bachelor of Social Science degree at University of Kwa Zulu Natal, a Bachelors of Ministry Degree from CFCI Bible College and has received a Project Management Certificate from Damelin.

What Lesley hopes to gain from the VV GROW Fellowship: Lesley hopes to learn about networking and how to build a network with other business owners. She is looking forward to learning about the different dynamics affecting business from a global perspective to support her vision to become a global business.

What Lesley can offer other fellows: Lesley can share her challenging experiences and how she overcame them. She is also able to offer the lessons she has learned in business and managerial leadership, project management and human resources.
