CEO, SciTech Kids

Kim Magloire
United States of America

Kim Magloire is the CEO of SciTech Kids, a biologist and an epidemiologist who started the business after she noticed there were few educational companies that taught STEM/STEAM in an innovative manner. A graduate of Princeton University and Columbia University, she sought to excite children about STEM by providing experiences that capture their imagination. What began as a summer camp blossomed into a storefront that showcased the marvels of STEM and provided in-school programs, afterschool programs, STEM events and opportunities for children, in and outside of the classroom. Her mission as a woman of color is also to increase the number of underrepresented groups in STEM by building a pipeline for the future STEM workforce. Through her speaking engagements, she promotes the need for early exposure to these disciplines. Kim’s impact is that she demonstrates that students can be scientists and engineers now and solve real-world problems listed by the UN Sustainable Development Goals such as SDG 6, Clean Water and Sanitation, SDG 7, Affordable and Clean Energy and SDG 13, Climate Action. Her students become even more motivated to excel when they win contests such as the White House Student Film Festival in 2014. Her goal is to now bring SciTech Kids and its Augment Reality curriculum and app to students worldwide and help students potentially pursue a STEM career. Kim’s next step is to also partner with corporations who are interested in supporting STEM programs that are grooming the next generation of scientists and seeking to improve diversity, equity and inclusion in the workplace.

What Kim can offer other fellows:

Kim would love to partner with and support fellows who are in the education, STEM, or Ed-tech space. She believes there is a need to expose students worldwide to innovation that will help them learn science and math in particular, especially after COVID-19. Students have fallen behind in their studies and desperately need tools to catch up and excel in STEM-related disciplines. Her expertise as a biologist and epidemiologist may also be useful to those in the medical field who are looking for support in projects or businesses that are related to those disciplines.
