Honorable Ama Pomaa Boateng is the elected Member of Parliament for the Juaben Constituency in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. She serves as the co-chair of Ghana’s eParliament /ICT Steering Committee. She is also a Member of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Parliament in Abuja, Nigeria. Her passion for technology and gender issues has led her to currently serve as the Chair for the ECOWAS Parliament Gender Committee and for the Communications Committee of Ghana’s Parliament.

She is a board member of the National Petroleum Authority in Ghana, where she also serves as the Chairperson of the Complaints and Settlements Subcommittee. Prior to her legislative position, she set up business incubation programs for young women social entrepreneurs. She also ran a Cisco Networking Academy program through the Ama Pomaa Foundation. She holds several certificates, including Harvard University’s Women & Power certificate and Northwestern University Kellogg Business School’s Corporate Governance certificate, among others.

Ama Pomaa participated in the Fortune – U.S. Department of State Global Women’s Mentoring Partnership with Vital Voices in 2009.

 

She was selected as a Fellow for the first VV Engage Cohort.
