About Happy

Happy is the Founder and Managing Director of Roshan Global Services (Roshan Renewables), the first female-owned company that manufactures stoves that saves women’s lives in Nigeria. Roshan manufactures fuel efficient cookstove and fuel briquettes, and works to promote women’s entrepreneurship through the sale of these technologies. The company’s fuel efficient stoves are manufactured and distributed by community-based women who earn commission on sales. Happy is working to solve an immense health problem that affects and causes the death of 95,000 people annually who inhale toxic household air pollution caused by indoor cooking fires such as firewood. RRE deploys a well-rounded approach that saves lives by reducing harmful gas and smoke emissions and safeguards the environment for future generations and empowers women through a distribution value chain. Roshan’s customers are both urban and rural dwellers and they market their products in underserved areas of the country while also carrying out advocacy work in those spheres. Roshan’s stoves additionally enable opportunity, by saving women time that they can use to engage in economic activity. Happy stoves save lives, money and the environment. Happy holds a Bachelors in Management Technology from Modibbo Adams University of Technology and an MBA from Ahmady Bello University. Her primary area of expertise is in business management and marketing and she is a member of Women in Renewable Energies Nigeria, Renewable Energies Association of Nigeria, and the Nigerian Alliance for Clean Cookstove.

What Happy hopes to gain from the VV GROW Fellowship:

Happy is looking forward to improving her business skills and learning from her peers’ knowledge and experience. She hopes to improve her financial management skills and learn more about how to build a successful business that will outlive her. She wants to build her network and make connections with fellows in the same industry in other continents.
