Economic Empowerment

Geeta Dangol is a founding president at the Women Empowerment Centre established in 2017. The Women Empowerment Centre drives bold change by empowering 200+ grassroots women in Kirtipur with entrepreneurial skills, launching sustainable handicraft businesses to achieve financial independence and reduce poverty-driven migration. The root problem—limited skills, GBV barriers, and market access amid economic vulnerability—is addressed via targeted fellowships (e.g., tailoring to designer bags), peer resilience workshops, and market linkages, yielding 30% business launch rates and 90% retention. This fosters self-sustaining livelihoods, breaking intergenerational cycles.

She has led transformative initiatives that elevated women’s livelihoods and strengthened organizational growth. Her experience in mentoring and guiding youth change-makers in Nepal with Aakar Nepal reflects my dedication to fostering leadership and innovation in underserved communities. She is passionate about creating meaningful change, specializing in project planning and leadership, mentorship, and social entrepreneurship. Her work has consistently driven empowerment, innovation, and sustainable community impact.

“As a visionary leader, I champion the economic independence of grassroots women by bridging the gap between raw potential and sustainable opportunity — transforming marginalized communities in Kirtipur through entrepreneurial fellowships, resilience-building, and market access, so that every woman I mentor becomes not just a breadwinner, but a changemaker who breaks the cycle of poverty for generations to come.”
