Edwick Madzimure

Dr. Edwick Madzimure is the Founder of WILPF Zimbabwe, where she has led transformative community-based programmes that empower women and girls. Under her leadership, WILPF Zimbabwe has implemented initiatives that strengthen women’s participation in decision-making, prevent gender-based violence, promote girls’ education, gender equality, and climate change.

Beyond her national work, Dr. Madzimure is an internationally recognized advocate for humanitarian disarmament and feminist foreign policy. She serves in leadership roles within the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF) and has represented African civil society in global discussions on nuclear disarmament, autonomous weapons systems, and the Women, Peace and Security agenda. In recognition of her leadership and impact, she was awarded the 2025 Nuclear-Free Future Award (Solutions Award) and was named a finalist in the 2025 Women Changing the World Awards for her humanitarian work.
