Youth & Girls Empowerment

Dr. Khadija Owusu is the Founder of the AKAYA Foundation, a non-profit building the next generation of African female leaders through health education, psychosocial support, leadership development, and economic opportunity across Ghana and the UK. By addressing the interconnected barriers of period poverty, GBV, and absent leadership pathways, AKAYA is moving thousands of girls from surviving systems to reshaping them.

Dr. Owusu is an award-winning doctor, Forbes Africa 30 Under 30 honoree, international speaker and global health advocate with experience leading health, education, and youth development initiatives across underserved communities. Alongside her work in medicine and public health, she has spoken on global platforms such as the United Nations, the White House, media and international policy roundtables, leading partnerships across the nonprofit, healthcare, and corporate sectors.

“As a visionary leader, I build the infrastructure that systems forgot to create, so that no girl’s future is determined by barriers she never made.”
