Co-Founder & Director of Sakya Foundation

Divya S Karthik is the Co-Founder and Director of Sakya Foundation, an organization committed to empowering individuals with disabilities across Karnataka and Odisha. In her current role, Divya oversees the strategic direction and implementation of initiatives that integrate health, education, and livelihoods, with a focus on creating inclusive communities. Sakya Foundation, under Divya’s leadership, partners with the Government of Karnataka to advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being) and SDG 4 (Quality Education). Through the Aashayein program, the foundation has screened and supported over 4,000 children with neurodevelopmental disorders, providing critical early intervention and ongoing care. The foundation also reaches underserved populations, ensuring that individuals with disabilities receive the support they need to thrive. Divya began her career as a physiotherapist specializing in pediatric care within the corporate sector. However, a transformative experience at an NGO highlighted significant gaps in disability care, inspiring her to redirect her efforts toward social impact. This pivotal moment led to the founding of Sakya Foundation, where she has driven initiatives that not only support individuals with disabilities but also empower women through sustainable projects like ‘Millet Sip,’ which creates employment opportunities while promoting healthy living. Divya is driven by a deep commitment to creating a society where every individual, regardless of ability, is valued and empowered. She holds a Bachelor of Physiotherapy and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in corporate social responsibility, further solidifying her expertise and dedication to social change.
