Carla Martina is the Managing Director of Maryland Printers, one of North West Cameroon’s first printing companies. Their mission is to produce high quality prints at affordable prices while building skills, educating, and empowering others in the community to improve their career performance and provide networking opportunities. As a leading printing press in Cameroon, Maryland Printers offer comprehensive services and products including graphic design, video production, proofreading, editing, impressions, and typesetting. Their products include advertisement materials (posters, flyers, etc.), textbooks, pamphlets, magazines as well as innovative greeting cards that use local African traditional prints. They are the first business in the Cameroonian printing press market to recycle paper waste to create rough pulp to be used as fuel in cook stoves. They also work with a local NGO that supports women and girls, to whom they donate paper that is used for training/production of arts and crafts with recycled paper beads. As the only female managing director of a printing press in her city, Carla Martina would like to become a role model for women in her community. Carla Martina’s expertise is in marketing and business management. She holds a Cameroon First Degree in African Literature, a Certificate of tutorship from the University of Yaounde and a Post-Graduate Diploma in African Literature from the University of Dschang. She also serves on the board of directors of the biggest cooperative credit union in Cameroon, AzziCCUL, and an elder of my local congregation PC Bamenda Station congregation.

What Carla Martina hopes to gain from the VV GROW Fellowship:

Carla Martina hopes to build her business skills in customer identification, communications, strategic and long term planning, goal achievement, business succession planning. She also hopes to learn from other women’s experiences and cultures, and build her professional network.
