Bhumika Shrestha is a Member of Parliament, gender and sexual minorities community rights activist and community leader from Nepal. For nearly two decades, she has worked to promote the rights, dignity and inclusion of gender and sexual minorities, helping bring their voices into national policy discussions and decision-making processes.

Through her advocacy, Bhumika has worked with communities, government institutions, political leaders and civil society organizations to advance equality, human rights and social inclusion. Her work contributes to SDG 5 (Gender Equality), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions).

Bhumika has represented Nepal at numerous national and international conferences and has been a strong voice for transgender and LGBTIQA+ rights across Asia and beyond. In recognition of her leadership and advocacy, she received the prestigious International Women of Courage Award in 2022 from the United States government and was named among the Top 100 Most Influential People in Global Policy for Gender Equality in 2019.
