Focus Areas
The Patient Voices Matter Foundation, founded by Barnes, is a social impact organization dedicated to empowering patients and caregivers in rural Eastern Kentucky Appalachia. It trains local community members to become patient advocates and educates patients and caregivers on self-advocacy to improve healthcare access and equity.
Barnes is a senior Bachelor of Social Work student at Eastern Kentucky University with 15 years of legislative patient advocacy experience. Her expertise spans healthcare policy, research, and community engagement, focusing on the intersection of social work and public health.
