Leticia is the Special Advisor on Corporate and Inter-Agency Relationships for UN Women Guatemala. She is of the Mayan Kaqchikel community and is an indigenous and women’s rights activist.
Leticia was previously the Minister of Labor and Social Welfare in Guatemala – the first indigenous woman to hold the position. She is a member of the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues, the Global Network Lead-On Youth Initiative, and the National Youth Commission for the Construction of a Public Policy Agenda for Young Mayans. She has also been involved with Vital Voices Guatemala for many years.
Leticia holds a both a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in Business Administration. She has also obtained a series of postgraduate and graduate degrees from the Central America Leadership Initiative of the Aspen Institute among other institutions.
She was selected as a Fellow for the 2019-2020 VV Engage Cohort.
