Arndis is a member of Althingi, the Icelandic parliament. She specializes in human rights and migration, having worked with refugees since 2009. She worked for the Icelandic Red Cross from 2014 to 2021, giving legal assistance and representation to refugees in Iceland, in humanitarian advocacy and diplomacy, international cooperation, advisory to the Icelandic authorities on immigration legislation and policy, et.al.

She held a temporary position in 2011 at the Icelandic ministry of the Interior as a specialist in migration, overseeing the application of Icelandic law and regulations in the field, ministerial supervision of the Directorate of Immigration, international agreements, and more. Arndis has also worked in child protection and as an independently working attorney. She has published academic articles and other writings in Iceland, France and the UK, mainly in the field of human rights and migration.

Arndis holds two Masters degrees in law and human rights from the University of Iceland (2009) and KU Leuven in Belgium (2013), respectively, and has been a member of the Icelandic bar since 2011. She furthermore initiated a PhD degree in human rights at the University in Strasbourg in 2017, which unfortunately was not concluded due to reasons related to the Covid-19 pandemic.
