Kalvir is a solicitor with 15 years of experience who holds strategic and legal expertise in advocating for child victims of trafficking. She is an experienced trainer, having trained legal representatives, NGOs and INGOs on best practices and interviewing skills. She has most recently trained professionals at Reinforcing Action against Child Trafficking (ReACT) project in Europe. In addition to serving on the advisory group for Immigration Law Practitioners Association (ILPA) Refugee Children’s Project, she travelled the United Kingdom extensively as a trainer for the project.
Ms. Kaur is a member of the Trafficking Law and Policy Forum and the Anti-trafficking legal project. In 2008 Kalvir was awarded Legal Aid Lawyer of the Year in the Immigration & Asylum category, recognizing her work with child victims of trafficking, and in 2014 she was the recipient of End Child Prostitution, Child Pornography and Trafficking of Children for Sexual Purposes (ECPATUK) Children’s Champion award. Ms. Kaur has authored numerous publications, including “Watch Over Me: A System of Guardianship for Child Victims of Trafficking” (ECPAT UK 2011). She also contributed to “Working with Refugee Children – Current Issues in Best Practice” (ILPA 2011) and “Human Trafficking Handbook” (edited by Parosha Chandran, LexisNexis 2011).
