Founder & Executive Director, Media Campaign Against Human Trafficking
Anne Abok is the Founder and Executive Director of Media Campaign Against Human Trafficking (MeCAHT), which she established in 2008 in partnership with various European organizations. MeCAHT works in South Africa, Nigeria, and Europe. In her role, Ms. Abok oversees MeCAHT, works directly with traffickers and victims of human trafficking, and hosts an annual international conference on countering human trafficking.
Ms. Abok is a passionate conference speaker, media trainer, and accredited facilitator with the South African qualification framework who has received awards for her work. She is also certified by the Radio Netherlands Training Center. Ms. Abok’s passion for social change and transformation of society led her to pioneer Media Village in 2005, through which over 700 people have been equipped with media skills. She is also a filmmaker who uses her films to achieve social change. She is currently working on her new film, “Desperate Journeys,” which addresses the issue of human trafficking and illegal migration from Africa to Europe.
