Anna Karolina Chimiak is the Co-Director of the human rights organization Centro de Justicia para la Paz y el Desarrollo (CEPAD), based in Jalisco, Mexico. Its mission is to support victims of grave human rights violations and advocate for truth, justice and memory preservation.

With over 13 years of experience as a human rights lawyer and advocacy specialist, Chimiak has worked across Mexico, Spain, Poland, and Republic of Moldova. At CEPAD, she has led national and international advocacy strategies, provided legal, political and psychosocial accompaniment to victims, and advanced public policy and legal frameworks on enforced disappearances, torture, children’s rights and human rights defenders. In October 2025, she is beginning her doctoral research at Ghent University.

“As a visionary leader, I seek to amplify the voices of victims, particularly women searchers, fostering participation and strengthening capacities so grassroots advocacy can drive justice, social change and full recognition of human dignity.”
