Angela Tavares de Jesus is an educator, advisor, and communications specialist committed to empowering Timorese communities through education, media, and advocacy. She serves as an advisor and lecturer at the East Timor Coffee Institute (ETCI), strengthening partnerships between universities and industry while teaching professional and foundational courses that equip students with practical skills for the future. Passionate about quality education, Angela also advises Timor-Leste’s National Agency for Academic Assessment and Accreditation, working to ensure higher education institutions deliver high-quality learning experiences.
Angela is the Communication Specialist for Australia’s Market Development Facility (MDF) in Timor-Leste, where she leads strategic media engagement and creates compelling content to support sustainable growth in the agriculture and tourism sectors. Her career also includes roles as Media and Communication Manager at Plan International Timor-Leste and Public Affairs Assistant at the U.S. Embassy in Dili, advancing youth programs, English education, and public diplomacy.
A committed advocate for women’s leadership and youth empowerment, Angela has participated in international fellowships and leadership programs, including the Australia Awards Women Leadership Program and the YSEALI Regional Workshop on Innovating International Higher Education. In 2024, she was named 1st Place Alumni of the Year by Australia Awards Timor-Leste, recognizing her outstanding contributions to advancing education and development in Timor-Leste. She holds a Master of Education from Monash University in Australia.
