Payal is a Program Manager on the Leadership and Social Impact team at Vital Voices. She leads planning and implementation of the Fortune – U.S. Department of State Global Women’s Mentoring Partnership, the WE Empower UN SDG Challenge, and the WomenLead India Fellowship. Payal also leads the LGBTQIA+ Alliance at Vital Voices, in addition to supporting the organization’s collective DEI and culture strategy.
Prior to joining Vital Voices, Payal worked at the American Association of University Women (AAUW), overseeing alumnae relations for a network of 13,000 women leaders and scholars around the world and managing AAUW’s global programs and partnerships with the United Nations. She has also coordinated State Department-funded exchange programs focused on nonprofit development, women’s entrepreneurship, and interfaith dialogues for leaders in the Middle East and North Africa region with Hands Along the Nile Development Services; worked in Kenya on public health and entrepreneurship programs for women living with HIV/AIDS; and facilitated outreach services for homeless veterans in the DC area. Payal earned her Bachelor’s degree in International Studies from American University and holds a Professional Certificate in the Social Impact of Storytelling from Georgetown University.
