Julia Drake

Program Assistant

Leadership & Social Impact

Julia is a Program Assistant on the Leadership and Social Impact team at Vital Voices. She supports the implementation of all the women’s leadership programs, but specifically the VV Visionaries partnership with Estee Lauder which challenges the gender stereotypes present in current expectations of leadership and uplifts a new generation of emerging leaders.

Prior to joining Vital Voices, she completed her B.S. in International Business with minors in Leadership Studies and French from the University of Denver. During her undergraduate time, Julia was a Co-Project Manager of a Community Change Initiative in which she partnered with Denver Special Olympics and The Rise School of Denver to increase awareness around the value of a neurodiverse workplace. Her love of language and cross-cultural communication took her to Aix en Provence, France for a cultural immersion during which she won the Etienne Gros Prize for Academic Excellence in Literature.

While interning with The Borgen Project, Julia lobbied her congressional leaders to make women’s rights in the developing world more of a priority in U.S. foreign policy particularly on behalf of bills such as the Keeping Girls in School Act and the Girls LEAD Act, along with covid equity relief and extreme poverty alleviation legislation. She is also a sexual and gender-based violence hotline advocate for The Blue Bench in Denver.

What was the last good book you read? Her Body and Other Parties by Carmen Maria Machado.
