Carling began at Vital Voices in August 2023 as a Compliance and Budget Specialist on the Finance team. She provides federal regulation and other technical support to the Voices Against Violence Initiative and the Urgent Assistance Fund. Before joining Vital Voices, Carling began in grants management at the National Endowment for Democracy as the Grants Assistant for the Africa portfolio. Carling previously worked as a Legislative Assistant at Ogilvy Government Relations in D.C.
She received her B.A. in 2021 from Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva, NY, where she majored in Economics and International Relations, with a minor in Latin American Studies and an overall focus of Economic Development. She also had the great opportunity to study abroad in Mendoza, Argentina in the Fall 2018 semester. As an undergraduate, Carling interned for Chile-based consulting firm REDEG, the House of Representatives, non-profit Education for the Children, and with multiple community facing on-campus offices.
